News from the Property Press Awards 2021

Awards season is an especially enjoyable time of year for the team at Elevate PR. It has been particularly poignant this time around as in-person events resume after a year of socialising online. Although Zoom, and Microsoft Teams are efficient, neither can compete with the excitement of getting dressed up and heading into London for the evening.

As expected, we thoroughly enjoyed the Property Press Awards last week. Thank you to Phil Spencer for being a wonderful host and to Henry Hemming who is the Editor of Property4Media. The Museum of London was a perfect venue with a buzzing atmosphere, delicious canapes, and LED screens to announce awards.

The Property Press Awards are a chance to spend time with the journalists we consider our close colleagues, celebrating their achievements. Working with a large number of talented journalists on a daily basis and seeing so many of these individuals be congratulated for their efforts over the past year, especially given the current circumstances of the pandemic, was a delight to witness.

The past year (nearly two) has been tough for the property industry but no less exciting. From the scramble for property in the countryside, to a move back towards the city and a return of international buyers the property market has remained fluid throughout 2021. The changing market has allowed for a year filled with exciting stories and we have thoroughly enjoyed pitching them to so many of the finalists who attended the awards last week.

We were delighted to sponsor this years Freelance Journalist of the Year category - and show our support to Property 4 Media. Zoe Dare Hall took away three award wins in total on the night and our Founder & Managing Director Chanel Bailey was proud to present her with the award for Freelance Journalist of the Year. We regularly work with Zoe on The Times and The Telegraph and feel this was a very deserving win!

Martina Lees was the biggest individual winner with an incredible 4 awards on the night. Martina took home the award for Property Journalist of the Year 2021, Property Staff Journalist of the Year, Scoop of the Year – “Unsafe flats paralyse property market”, and Sustainability Journalist of the Year. Congratulations to Martina for such a successful year.

Well done also to Ian Aikman for winning Newcomer of the Year. A triumphant year to win your first award in property and a massive achievement. We look forward to working with you soon.

Best wishes to all the other worthy winners, the Elevate PR team were honoured to spend the evening celebrating with you and we look forward to witnessing another year of property press. May the 2022 awards be as positive and enjoyable as this year was.
